This will introduce a new schedule for sending out new features. In fact, Microsoft is holding back features that were expected for Windows 11 22H2 will show up over these “Moments”. For example, File Explorer tabs, Suggested Actions, and the new sidebar. Microsoft is planning the first Windows 11 Moments update for October. This first update will add the new sidebar to the File Explorer alongside tabs. Furthermore, the Suggested Actions will also arrive in select applications. It is worth noting the Windows 11 Moments 2 update has also already been spotted on GitHub under the internal Build 229xx.
Changing Updates?
Last month, it was reported Microsoft may forgo annual updates on Windows 11. Instead, the company is once again looking to change up its update scheduling complete. Now, Microsoft wants to roll out new features throughout the year. This would be an extension of the company delivering updates to Windows apps whenever they are ready. There have been rumors that Microsoft will return to more consistent major updates, meaning Windows 12 may come in 2024. Either way, Windows 11 Moments could be evidence of Microsoft using regular updates and no longer sending out annual releases.
