But what about gaming, how does Windows 11 stack up against Windows 10? Well, the folks at Tom’s Hardware decided to find out by comparing AMD Radeon and Nvidia GeForce GPUs across both platforms. Specifically, the Radeon RX 6900 XT and the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, AMD’s flagship and Nvidia’s comparable GPU in terms of performance. The test found that the Radeon does not have a big difference in performance between Windows 10 and Windows 11. In fact, performance was incredibly consistent for the RX 6900 XT across both platforms. Differences in fps were 0.3% on average and the biggest difference was still lower than 2%. Windows 11 did have better performance, but not by a substantial amount. The report concludes that the results are ultimately “boring” but that’s good. It does not make sense for Microsoft to punish users on Windows 10. While Windows 11 enjoys some gains, they are not game-changing or worth upgrading for that alone. It is worth noting the test is using two top tier graphics chips to variances may be different on other hardware.

Wider Performance Problems

Windows 11 users have faced performance issues caused by a problem with NVMe SSDs. It seems the issue is varied and not affecting all users, with several drivers showing different symptoms. Some users have taken to Microsoft’s own forums to complain. For examples, there are some who say they SSD write performance, reducing to around half what it was when running on Windows 10. Last week Microsoft confirmed this issue and has updated the support document for Optional Update KB5007262. Tip of the day: Headsets are a vital tool for communication and can cause stressful moments when they don´t work as planned. In our tutorial we are showing you how to properly set up a headset on your Windows PC so this will be a thing of the past.
