Windows 10 now lets users manually check for updates. Elsewhere, Microsoft says Windows Update will now provide notifications when Windows 10 is nearing end of support. For example, Windows 10 1803 will stop being supported later this year in terms of feature update. Windows users still running that older version will now be notified by the platform when end of use is nearing. “You’re currently running a version of windows that’s nearing the end of support. We recommend you update to the most recent version of Windows 10 now to get the latest features and security improvements,” the message says.
Pushing an Update
Microsoft has said it is to begin forcing Windows 10 version 1803 users to update to later version this month. “We are now beginning to build and train the machine learning (ML) based rollout process to update devices running the April 2018 Update, and earlier versions of Windows 10. To ensure we can continue to service these devices and provide the latest updates, security updates and improvements,” Microsoft notes. Windows 10 version 1803 is known as the April 2018 Update. Microsoft confirmed last month this Windows build will reach end of service on November 12, 2019. It makes sense for the company to be going full steam ahead with its roll out of Windows 10 May 2019 Update to older builds.
